College Christmas or Finals Survival KitHow to Pack the Perfect Box of December Goodies
Every college student loves getting mail from home. Getting a box of December treats for Finals Survival is among best mail.
December brings with it lots of events for college students. They are facing the end of the semester, finals and the prospect of Winter break. A survival kit of goodies is the perfect way to celebrate this time in the college student's life. Contents of the KitEveryone thinks of food when they think of sending their college student a box of goodies. It is the basis for all boxes that parents and others send to college students. Whether the food is drink mixes, candy, cookies or granola bars, it is the favorite mail of most students. Why not include some fun items in the December Finals box in addition to the food. Students are in their dorm rooms up until just before Christmas. Fun things to send in the survival kit include small decorations. Little mini Christmas trees, window clings and magnets will all add to the festiveness of the dorm room. The window clings can decorate the window or the mirror. Many dorms have metal in various locations or the magnets can simply be placed on the dorm refrigerator. Another fun item to include is an inexpensive box of holiday cards. Students often have friends that are also off living in dorm rooms. The student receiving the survival kit can use the holiday cards to send greetings to friends. It is also nice to include stamps to go with the cards. Other fun items to include are inexpensive holiday wearables. Fun headbands and earrings are available as are fun socks. A nice pair of slipper socks can be included for those cold study sessions in December. Creating the KitThe first step is to gather the items for the kit. One item should be gathered per day in December prior to the beginning of break. The items can correspond to the number of the day. For example on December 1st, the item could be one Christmas tree. Many candies are named with numbers so they would fit in well on those days. It is best to avoid sending liquids as they may open and get all over everything else. Once the correct number of items has been gathered, a box big enough to send them in is required. Each item is individually wrapped with the date it is to be opened marked clearly on the outside. A verse putting the item and date can be written, such as, "on December 1, someone sent to me one Christmas Tree." If greeting cards are sent they should be marked for early enough in the month so they may be mailed. A final touch before sealing the box is to include a letter of encouragement for the student concerning finals and how well the sender knows the student is capable of doing. Students love getting letters from home almost as much as food. Mailing the KitThe box is filled and ready to be sealed. It is best to use regular packing tape to seal a box for mailing. The address of the sender and recipient are put on the outside of the box. The sender should also write "Do Not Open Until December 1" to prevent early foraging into the box. The box should be mailed to allow plenty of time to arrive by December 1. The box is sent. The student has received it and December has begun. Many fond memories of the box will be created for the student as he receives the items in the box.
