Hot back to school campus looks for Fall 2009 include the reverse bob hair cut, skinny jeans, maxidresses and minidresses, plaid, and gladiator sandals.

What are girls wearing on college campuses in the fall 2009 semester? Here's a run-down on some of the hottest looks.

The Reverse Layered Short Bob Haircut

This versatile bob cut has is everywhere on college campuses. It's a traditional short bob cut that transitions into longer layers on the side. For a dramatic look, sides are left significantly loner than the back; for a more subdued look, the transition is gradual.

This bob cut craze has caught on in part because the look works for just about any hair type. Girls with straight hair get some nice bounce, while curly haired curls can show off their curls in the back of the bob.

Skinny Jeans

When it comes to denim, this year's hottest look is the skinny jean. This pencil thin, stretchy pants are popular in traditional denim colors, black, and vibrant colors like pink and aqua. The look is versatile; they can be dressed up for weekend wear or dressed down with a big baggy sweatshirt for class.

Not comfortable in skin tight jeans? Bootcut and boyfriend cut jeans are still trendy as well.

One-Shoulder Asymmetric Tops

This sexy look is great ro dressing up a pair of jeans or weekend parties. For a classic look, try a sheer black fabric. For something more eye-catching, metallic colors are in style, as are animal prints. One-shoulder asymmetrical dresses also are a hit. Flowing tops with sexy arms cutouts are a similar trend.

Gladiator Sandals and Other Hot Fall 2009 Footwear Trends

Summer 2009 was dominated by an abundance of shoe crazes that are crossing over into fall. The hot black or metallic gladiator style sandal, with funky thick straps that wrap around the ankle, are still popular. The high heeled version of these are great for weekends, while the flat ones are perfect with jeans for a comfortable and stylish walk to class.

Other hot footwear trends for Fall 2009:

  • Above-the-knee leather and suede boots
  • Stiletto heel ankle boots, with or without open toes
  • Slingback shoes with platform or stiletto heels and open toes
  • Peep-toe pumps in suede, black, or vivid colors
  • Purple and red shoes
  • Animal print styles

Plaid

Plaid is always a winner on casual college campuses, and it's back in style. Both oversized, comfy plaid shirts and fitted pintuck numbers can easy add some casual style to a college wardrobe. Another fun addition: plaid mini skirts, with look cute with open toe pumps and other fall shoes.

Maxidresses and Minidresses

Extra long and extra short dresses are in. The long, flowing maxidresses that were all the rage this summer are comfortable attire for the classroom, and can be turned into a fall look with a cardigan. On the shorter end, tight, sleeveless, colorful, and as short as the wearer dares is what's in fashion. Short and long tube dresses are very much the rage as well.
