There are many ways to afford a fun Spring Break with a group of friends, from altering dates to browsing the net for last minute deals.

At one point or another, every college student wants to go away for Spring Break, but there’s always that troublesome issue of money and the best way to pinch a few pennies. Here’s where and what to look for:

Timing and Length

Shortening the amount of time can make a huge difference in price. Instead of going from a Saturday-Saturday, going Monday-Friday can be more reasonable. Between eliminating two days and flying during the week, going away for Spring Break will be a realistic goal to reach. There will still be plenty of time to soak up some sun, but more importantly won’t leave a massive dent in the bank account.

Group Rates

Finding a group of friends to go away with is not only more fun but also cost effective. The more people there are, the more ways the total will be divided among everyone. Therefore, every person pays less – this works in favor for all. Many websites offer these group rates, especially for March-April, when they know Spring Break is on the rise. Studentcity.com is a good example of where to find this. This website specifically accomodates college students in helping them find a tropical location come time for a break from the books.

Online Sites

As previously mentioned, online sites are great resources for trips. Student-based sites, however, are not the only options available. Orbitz, Priceline and Expedia, all offer reasonable "flight + hotel" vacation packages. Depending on the country or island of choice, students may be able to find some great savings on “sale” prices or last minute deals. It’s always worth shopping around to find the best deal possible.

All-Inclusive Resorts

Although many all-inclusive resorts may seem a bit pricier at the beginning, many find that they are really more reasonable because of the amount of money spent on food and drinks at the end of the week. Drinks, especially, can rack up a large bill, so all-inclusive will be the way to go to avoid overspending. Because it is included with the price of the resort, there’s no need to worry about staying on a tight budget.

All-inclusive resorts can also help in the entertainment department. Free shows, clubs and other nightly entertainment activities can be built-in to the price. Things such as non-motorized sports are also incorporated to the package for the daytime, when looking for alternatives from lying by the beach or pool.

Going away for Spring Break doesn’t have to be such a burden on the wallet. Keeping these several tips in mind will help momentously when it comes time to plan a tropical getaway with friends for a week.
