Easy and inexpensive products to help you store and organize all of your stuff to make the most of the space in your small college dorm room.

College dormitory rooms can be quite small. Students are expected to store not only their clothes and personal items, but also cooking supplies, food and books. Here are some great storage products that can help (all items are available online at The Container Store).

Dorm Laundry Solutions

The Loop Laundry Bag is perfect for dorm life because it is like a hamper with a handle. Made from a durable canvas it can stand upright and hold up to two loads of laundry. The handle allows it to be easily carried to the laundry room, like a large tote bag as well to be hung on a hook. The canvas material means it can be folded up when not in use.

Dorm Bed Storage

Most students usually prop their beds up off the floor with milk crates, creating more storage space underneath. The Container Store's underbed Boxes are wide but not tall, so they are perfect for storing off-season clothes under a bed and allowing more room in the closet.

Dorm Closet

The Add-a-Pocket System is ideal for students because these nylon mesh pockets hang on a wall or in a closet and store small items like socks, undergarments, CDs and school supplies. When space gets low just clip on another pocket. The nylon mesh material makes the pockets strong, durable and see-through, so items can be found easily.

Since holes cannot be added to dormitory walls, over door hook systems that can hang on a closet door are really handy. The Duchess 5-Hook Over Door Rack has five strong hooks ideal for storing coats, towels and bags.

Dorm Shelving Storage

The Small Handled Folding Crate is perfect for storing books, magazines, small electronic devices or appliances on shelves and they can fold up and out of the way when not needed. The handle makes them great to use for grocery shopping as well.

Dorm Bathroom

Dorm life usually means sharing a bathroom and lugging shower items back and forth can be an inconvenience, especially if an item gets forgotten. The Hanging Shower Caddy works for students because it houses all the needed items plus features a retractable handle that allows it to be hung off the shower head so there is more room in the stall.

Dorm Food

The Slim Cart is only 9 inches wide and on wheels so it can easily slide between a bed and a wardrobe without taking up any additional space. With four long horizontal shelves it would allow plenty of storage for food items, laundry supplies and toiletries.

Organization is key for any student trying to maximize the small space of their dorm room. Fortunately, all of these storage products are inexpensive and will still be useful long after dorm life is over.
